====== MAAS YCC EOI 2017 - "SPLICE SAVERS!" ====== A film splicer (also called a film joiner, usually in Europe) is a device used to join video segments ((How to splice video clips: http://www.wikihow.com/Splice-Video-Clips)) and/or lengths of photographic film. Splicing is used in the production of almost all motion pictures. ((Why/what 'splice', 'splicer'? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_splicer)) FIXME <- MAY - JUL 2017 <- Please see related links in menu on left hand side of page... <- **A copy of the EOI submitted to MAAS follows:** ---- ====== "SPLICE SAVERS!" ====== Inspired by Dr Derek Muller's //Veritasium// Youtube channel ((Derek Muller - Veritasium: https://www.youtube.com/user/1veritasium)), the //Splice Savers!// student video production team will interview exhibitors and visitors by asking engaging and challenging questions about simple scientific principles underlying each of the YCC exhibits. This project builds on and extends the popular 'green room' project delivered during MAAS YCC 2016. Our kids love to have fun and they conduct interviews in generally disarming, entertaining and inventive ways ((Example student interview - MAAS YCC 2016: http://tinyurl.com/yd4xtdt7)). Their productions are mature, scientifically and educationally authentic, and of broadcast quality. Also, students will demonstrate and invite visitors to interact with //BLOCKER!// ((About the //BLOCKER!// project: http://tinyurl.com/y8cngcxo)) - a classroom project developed wholly by students using a //Raspberry Pi// ((Raspberry Pi Foundation: https://www.raspberrypi.org/)) to investigate the properties of materials by creating synthesised musical sequences and drawings on a web-based painting canvas. Our student 'explainers' and video production team will engage with visitors to assist, and explain how they engage and learn with STEAM in the classroom. The //BLOCKER!// interactive provides another focal point for our video team to engage visitors in MAAS YCC 2017 event related interviews. {{ youtube>vT9RgnyXtCI?640x360 |Mannix Interviews Locals}} ** Video 1: Mannix Interviews Locals (JUN 2017)** * **IF UNABLE TO ACCESS YOUTUBE VIDEO TRY VIEWPURE:[[http://viewpure.com/vT9RgnyXtCI|Interviews - Locals]]** For more detailed information and examples, please visit our wiki. - WIKI: http://flipster.tv/ - Young Creators: http://tinyurl.com/bbps-ycc-2017 or http://tinyurl.com/yc4m65we - Teaching Art: http://tinyurl.com/yadh74zq - Teaching Science: http://tinyurl.com/ybhgdxzk - Teaching STEAM: http://tinyurl.com/yb34u3ft - BLOCKER!
